I was 20 weeks pregnant when I started to experience pain in my lower back and pelvis. I had been referred to the hospital's waiting list for physiotherapy treatment but I contacted Sheila and asked for her advice as I was finding difficulty in walking. After my first hour- long shiatsu treatment I was much more flexible and able to move around much more naturally. My baby is now due in a fortnight and I'm finding it much easier, despite having a heavy toddler to look after too!

I found the combination of practical tips on de-stressing, brainstorming coping strategies and understanding the theory behind the techniques really worked. The posture work and exercises seemed to help me a lot during my pregnancy. I rarely got back ache or problems anywhere. It also eased my carpel tunnel at times. The sessions included some relaxation exercises which really helped me, particularly when in work. I found the sitting relaxation exercises could be done sat at my desk and calmed me when I got stressed or emotional. I also had Shiatsu during my pregnancy and found that this all worked well together.

Caitlin and I started baby massage when she was just 6 weeks old. By the third week the difference in Caitlin's mobility was brilliant; she was so much more flexible and relaxed. It was lovely to spend lovely quality time with my daughter and I think she enjoyed the closeness as well.
Her sleeping improved right from the beginning and by the time she was 9 and a half weeks old she was sleeping through the night, (8pm till 8am). I believe this is due to the massage as I used the techniques each night after her bath.

Lucy had colic from constipation and the techniques I learnt have really helped with this. The course has given me the confidence to enjoy massage with my baby. Sheila is a wonderful teacher – very patient and kind - and the babies seem to really respond to her.

My partner used many of the massage techniques shown and we also found that the pressure points on my lower back helped relieve some pain. Along with this I concentrated on my breathing which helped me feel calmer. I found the techniques incredibly useful at the beginning of labour and felt so much calmer than I did having my first baby and think they were the main reason I didn’t need pain relief. These Birth Preparation sessions would help any one!
