Ante-Natal Exercise and Body Awareness
As your body changes throughout pregnancy, taking gentle and appropriate exercise will help you accommodate these changes and promote your health and energy. This daily exercise plan combines essential ante-natal yoga-based exercises with simple stretches and movement to help you recognise and release tension and adjust your posture to cope with the demands of pregnancy.
The daily exercise plan will help you:
- Learn how to ease the common aches and pains of pregnancy
- Build suppleness, strength and fitness levels
- Feel calmer and help prevent the build up of stress
- Help you to move more freely and protect your back
- Improve your postural awareness
- Raise your general level of health and energy
- Improve respiration, digestion, elimination of waste and circulation of fluids
- Encourage good positioning of your baby
- Gain familiarity with movements and breathing that will help guide you through contractions.
- Become familiar and comfortable with positions that will be helpful in labour
The focus of this programme is to enable you to exercise appropriately at home, moving consciously, breathing effectively and connecting with your baby as you do so. The programme is taught in individual sessions and will compliment any other ante-natal or pregnancy exercise classes you attend.
Regular and appropriate exercise will help you to feel healthy and energetic so that you feel good, enjoy your pregnancy and begin to prepare for labour.
